L'Être Inachevé | The Unfinished Being

A corten steel figure by David Sagnier, built from the idea that a human form can be reduced to its essential lines.
L'Être Inachevé , The Unfinished Being, stands as a single silhouette cut from oxidized steel, its body rendered in fragments and gaps rather than solid mass. Sagnier doesn't sculpt a complete figure; he sculpts just enough of one, leaving the negative space to carry as much weight as the metal itself.
The rust becomes the skin. No two patinas oxidize the same way, so the surface, its color, its texture, the way light catches the open sections, is never quite repeatable. The figure holds a quiet, upright stillness despite how little of it is actually there.
Hand-cut and shaped in corten steel by Barcelona sculptor David Sagnier, then mounted on a solid black base.
